He advanced through several different management positions throughout his career, finally retiring in 1985 as Branch Manager in the Memphis office of the company he had represented for almost 30 years.
All the sales management positions held by Dewey over a period of almost 30 years included the recruiting, licensing and training of new agents. After retirement in 1985, he began teaching pre licensing training courses for a Nashville Insurance School. He taught pre licensing courses for Life and Health, Property and Casualty, Industrial Fire, Title, and Securities Series 6 and 63.
His many years of insurance experience and training that he had given and received over the years brought about the beginning of his own pre licensing training school, American Insurance Training, Inc. in June 1990.
American Insurance Training, Inc., an Insurance Pre Licensing and Continuing Education Training School was incorporated in Memphis, Tennessee in June 1990, by its founder and present president, Dewey C. Wilson, CLU.
American Insurance Training obtained approval from the Insurance Departments in the states of Tennessee and Mississippi to provide insurance pre-license and continuing education training for resident applicants in those states who were applying for or renewing an insurance license.
Dewey Wilson, CLU, is well known in the insurance industry and still continues to teach all of American Insurance Training’s Property & Casualty, Claims Adjusters and Title Insurance pre licensing classes. He has trained and licensed thousands of new insurance agents over the past 50 years and continues to have an excellent passing record.
